School Logo
In 2023, following consultation with our school community, we proudly unveiled our new school logo.
This logo serves as a bridge between our past, present, and future, reflecting the values and elements that are the heart of our school community.
The below provides a deeper explanation of our new logo and its individual elements.
St Joseph
St Joseph, husband of Mary, mother of Jesus and our school’s namesake and patron, is holding three lilies that represent the Holy Trinity and symbolise integrity.
His image is representative of the fundamental principles of our school, and is a reminder of the contribution the Josephite Sisters made in founding our school.
Mercy Cross
The inclusion of the Mercy Cross reminds us of the Mercy Sisters’ significant contribution to the formation of the school since their arrival in 1879.
Castle Hill and The Strand
Our school community is located between these landmarks that are iconic to the Townsville community, which is why they are illustrated as the backdrop of the logo.
These areas are also sacred to the Wulgurukaba nation, both featuring in the creation story, and being places of gathering for the community.
The Lines
The simplistic lines used in the logo contemporised the beliefs integral to the way the community of St Joseph’s Catholic School, The Strand lives in cohesion today.
St Joseph’s Catholic School, The Strand’s logo acknowledges the country upon which the school stands and its rich history steeped in the Catholic tradition, and communicates a connection to the present and the future.
The Circles
The circular icon in the logo pays homage to our past logos, and includes the school’s motto, Love God, Love Each Other which centralises the person of Jesus and the greatest commandment of all ‘Love one another’.
